Broken USB Connector

Hello all -- new to the board. My APC40 took a spill at the last party and the USB connector on the back kind of sunk into the housing. Ableton is not recognizing the controller even though I managed to get the wire into the connector (kind of hanging out). Now I am pretty much an idiot when it comes to electronics, so I would not even know where to begin troubleshooting this thing or where to take it to have it looked at. Do I take it to a PC tech, or to my local music store? Any help or direction would be appreciated!

Have you taken it apart to see if it can be pushed back out?

I haven't -- it is not sunken all the way in so I am able to connect the usb cable to it. This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the wiring inside. It still cycles through the lights as though it were idle (well it IS idle).

Sounds like it could be something inside?

The cable may also be damaged, have you tried using a different one? I would try that first.

Hit me over the head with the obvious -- thanks! I am going to scrounge up another cable now.
